GIS Mapping Software

GIS in Safefreight Solutions

GIS, or geographic information systems, are computerized systems that  capture, store, integrate, analyze and display geographic spatial data. GIS systems supply layers of information about a specific location, and can create a map using data pulled from databases. The resulting layers of data available contribute to improved organizational and resource management, as well as efficient and effective decision-making.

GIS can be applied to environmental planning, public utility management, infrastructure development, resource management, engineering, and transportation.

GIS and GPS

GIS maps are also used in conjunction with GPS technology. A GPS receiver provides information about the location of a truck, trailer or piece of heavy equipment. This position can be viewed on map-based software, typically through the internet. A review of the region’s geographic features may affect route or delivery plans, or other transportation issues.

Safefreight’s technology employs GIS in it’s SmartFleet® Manager software application to provide mapping and location information related to fleet management and security.

SmartFleet® Manager - Powerful Mapping Software

SmartFleet® Manager is a web-based mapping interface that integrates mobile asset tracking technology and asset-to-internet software. The advanced technology of GIS  offers the ability to query, analyze and map data that assists in fleet management decision-making. Its practical application turns a concept into a realistic image, in much the same way that a graph provides a visual representation that is easier to comprehend than a table with numbers.

Using premium Navteq® map data, SmartFleet® Manager has a number of views that allow you to get the information you need. In fact, maps are readily available from almost every screen in SmartFleet Manager.

A mini-map allows you to drill down to a vehicle’s location while keeping a global view of the rest of the fleet in the large map. From this screen you have one-click access to histories, driver information and unit details.

The Fleet View screen is the main mapping interface. The size of the large map is customizable allowing you to display the system on a large screen in a dispatch office or view the information from your home PC.

SmartFleet® Manager has a full compliment of filters that allow you to view sub-fleets, markers, vehicles in need of maintenance or any combination thereof.

The history or "breadcrumb" trail shows the detailed activity of a vehicle.  Driver, vehicle and marker details are available from the details window.  The minimap allows you to drill down on a point without losing perspective on the days activity.
