Curtis J. Serna
Chief Executive Officer
CURTIS SERNA is the founder of Safefreight Technology. In 1998, he saw the potential of wireless security-focused products in the transportation sector and acquired technology rights to start the company. He continues to attract investment capital and senior management , board and advisory resources from the wireless, transportation, retail, government, insurance and manufacturing sectors.
Prior to launching Safefreight, Mr. Serna owned and operated several companies, including a national car rental agency and an asset-leasing venture. With a patented product in an untapped market, Mr. Serna is dedicated to advancing the Safefreight corporate profile and product designs.
James R. Shimoda
Vice President, Business Management
JAMES SHIMODA is Vice President, Business Management and Safefreight Technology’s investor relations contact. Mr. Shimoda’s extensive background in finance planning and management is a valuable asset to the Safefreight team and investor group. Mr. Shimoda is well versed in business relationships, credit and investment planning and protection. His experience, from both a creditor and investor perspective, enables Mr. Shimoda to create a collaborative business advantage for all stakeholders. Before joining Safefreight, Mr. Shimoda gained valuable expertise at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) where he worked for nine years as a Certified Financial Planner in CIBC’s Wealth Management division. He began his career working for two years at one of Canada’s largest brokerage firms, Midland Walwyn, where he reported directly to the vice president. Mr. Shimoda is a graduate of the University of Alberta School of Business with a Bachelor of Commerce degree specializing in finance and a Bachelor of Science degree specializing in psychology.
Earl Bourque
Chief Technical Officer
EARL BOURQUE is a seasoned engineering executive specializing in web based geographic information systems (GIS), GPS tracking, and fleet management solutions. Specifically he’s been involved in software and system design and development with a focus on commercial desktop and web based applications. Prior to joining Safefreight, Mr. Bourque was the founding technology manager of an award winning GIS/GPS division of TELUS Communications developing B2B web-based applications.
Mr. Bourque is experienced in directing teams to create industry leading commercial applications that solve business problems. He is a professional electrical engineer with a degree from the University of Alberta.
Andrew Christopher
Vice-President, Sales
ANDREW CHRISTOPHER is a winning sales executive who brings more than 20 years of sales leadership and experience to Safefreight. Before joining Safefreight, Mr. Christopher started and grew sales for TELUS’ GPS fleet management solution to over 200 accounts, including million dollar+ wins from a range of verticals.
Mr. Christopher is currently responsible for the management of all sales generation for Safefreight. He motivates and mentors a team of energetic solution specialists across Canada to grow a robust sales funnel and close business through outstanding client relations. Mr. Christopher has a diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology from the Nova Scotia Institute of Technology.
Grant Sterling
Vice-President , Operations
GRANT STERLING brings to Safefreight a wealth of operations experience specifically related to the implementation of GPS fleet management and tracking solutions. During his tenure with TELUS Communications, Grant managed a team that oversaw the deployment of fleet management and tracking technology on projects ranging from 2 to 4000 vehicles – including high value import cars to multi-million dollar oil field service equipment.
Grant is a seasoned project management professional and has over 15 years experience with GPS technology and various wireless communications platforms including cellular, satellite, Wi-Fi and trunked radio and hardware components to support mobile data initiatives. Mr. Sterling graduated with honours from the Computer Systems Technology program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.
Andrew J. Chamberlain
General Counsel
ANDREW CHAMBERLAIN, a graduate of the University of Alberta Law School, is a principle with the firm of Chamberlain Hutchison. Andrew is a Past Chair of the Securities Law Section (Edmonton) of the Canadian Bar Association, a former member of the Alberta Securities Commission’s Securities Advisory Committee, and is currently a Sessional Instructor, in Corporate Securities, at the University of Alberta Law School. Andrew also presently serves on the Boards of Datec Group Ltd. (listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange), Loma Oil & Gas Ltd. (listed on the TSX Venture Exchange), and Unity Wireless Corporation (Nasdaq Bulletin Board).
